Basketball Top of the Mountain Tournament
I had a basketball tournament last weekend. My team, the cheetahs of CT English had 4 opponents. We would go against Campbell, the winner of the playoffs last year; Rolling Hills, an easy team that fouled us a lot last year; and two other teams from a different league. We would have the first 2 schools on Saturday, and the rest on Sunday.
On Saturday, we arrived at 7:45 because our game started at 8:00. They were a bit difficult in the beginning, but their team hadn't changed much since last year. They had the same offense and defense. But they had gotten clumsier. We ended up with winning 20 - 16.
All of us stayed for the next two hours and watched the other games. Then we discussed our strategy in the room over. We now would play Rolling Hills. We started playing them, and we were amazed. They had improved from a "just foul them" school, to a good strategy one. However, their ability to foul was their Achilles' Heel. One of the players even fouled out. In the end we won though, with the score of 31- 25. By only 3 baskets.
Then we called in to help the 8th graders, who had a game against Murphy right after ours. Two of the 8th graders got injured. At first me and a 6th grader joined into the game. Then the rest of my team except for 3 came. The first 5 minutes, the 8th graders were losing. Than we were subbed in. When I was boxing out, I was pushed into the air. I've never had such a viscious defender. However, this is 8th grade and my grade focused on tactics than brute strength. So the 8th graders got their first win, 24 - 23.
